Silver Jews played in Atlanta last week, and it was transcendant. This awesome guy taped the show and has reviews and audio for both the Athens and Atlanta show. What made the Atlanta show extra cool is that there only about 100 people there- a tiny room in the back of the Earl which was way sold out. It was great seeing Bob and Steve from the mighty Pavement. Will Oldham was in the house too!

David and the band were great. Not nearly as sloppy as one would think, considering it was the second official show of their first-ever tour. Cassie is a fox and a hell of a player and singer. Peyton Pinkerton was outstanding on lead guitar, and I was psyched that he really nailed Malkmus' lead lines on a few songs where SM's parts are kinda integral to the songs. I had been waiting for this show for years and it surpassed all expectations.

This past Tuesday night we were fortunate enough to see Wilco right here in little ol' Tallahassee. They played an incredible set of rock, which you can read about here. I am now 100% convinced of Jeff Tweedy's genius.

Traveling to Atlanta this weekend to catch the Silver Jews on their first-ever tour. Here's what one fan had to say about their secret tour warm-up show in Nashville a couple of nights ago:

"I was first through the door and DB was on stage alone welcoming the first few folks walking in - very laid-back and friendly. Show started not too long after the doors opened - they played for a little over an hour - Sometimes a Pony gets Depressed, Punks in the beerlight, Buckingham rabbit, Random Rules, Trains across the sea - that's about all I can recall - I was way too excited and overjoyed to be seeing the show. I got some good pics. Bob handed out a bunch of PBRs to the front rows towards the end of the show. Way too much fun."
